Once Dauntain’s whereabouts were ascertained, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested him and took him back into jail. As soon as possible on social media, the Sheriff’s Office declared that Dauntain was back under arrest at 11:11 a.m. on Sunday, February 4.

Different law enforcement agencies gave differing accounts of him and made an effort to make sense of the remarks. It is unclear how someone facing such severe accusations was given a temporary release so they could go to a funeral.
