2 Shot, 1 Dead at Miami-Dade Junction. Police Said the Shooter’s Sister Surrendered

According to an arrest report, the gunman’s sister and neighbors’ home video cameras identified the shooter in a Saturday afternoon double shooting at a North Miami-Dade crossroads that killed one guy.

Michael Bernard was 33 years old at the time. The other passenger in the 2014 Buick was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and is still in critical condition. Meanwhile, Lekambrick Hanna, 32, is being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on accusations of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, attempted armed carjacking, and grand theft auto.

According to online court documents, he has been denied bond on the murder charge.

Hanna is already on probation until July 20, 2024, after being convicted of resisting an officer with violence (a felony) and resisting an officer without violence (a misdemeanor) in a June 16 incident.

Online According to Florida Department of Corrections data, the residence is located near the intersection of Northwest 143rd Street and 16th Court in an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County between North Miami and Opa-locka. According to the arrest report, a 2014 Buick stopped there with Bernard and another passenger at approximately 12:20 p.m. Saturday.

Someone approached the driver’s side of the Buick with a revolver in hand and fired into the vehicle before fleeing to the west. Hanna’s sister “witnessed the shooting and provided a sworn statement confirming the identity of the shooter to be her brother,” according to the arrest report.

The incident was also “captured on residential surveillance cameras.” Hanna and his sister live close north of the crossroads in a house. According to the police report, Hanna finally returned to the residence through a back bedroom window and changed his clothes.

According to authorities, Miami-Dade officers discovered a firearm in the backyard near the window Hanna utilized. Hanna invoked his right to counsel and his right to keep silent after being arrested.
